Stay Protected: Learn About Child's Immunisations

Victorian Government Policy

In January 2016, the Victorian State Government introduced a “No Jab, No Play” legislation designed to improve childhood vaccination rates and reduce the spread of vaccine-preventable diseases.

Immunisation

Before your child can start childcare at Spring Kids Early Learning Centre, it's vital to ensure that you have all the necessary immunisation documents in line with Victorian government regulations. These documents play a crucial role in safeguarding the health and well-being of all children in our care.

To comply with regulations, we require parents to provide us with their child's Immunisation History Statement from the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR). This statement verifies that your child's immunisations are up-to-date according to the National Immunisation Program schedule.

Ensuring that all children are appropriately immunised helps to create a safe and healthy environment for everyone at our centre. If you have any questions or need assistance obtaining the necessary documents, please don't hesitate to contact our team. We're here to support you every step in ensuring your child's health and well-being.

Why Immunisation Is Important?

Immunisation plays a crucial role in safeguarding the health and well-being of children, educators, and the broader community.

Here are a few reasons why immunisation is so necessary:

1. Prevention of Serious Illnesses: Immunisation helps protect children from potentially life-threatening diseases such as measles, polio, whooping cough, and meningitis. By receiving vaccines, children develop immunity to these diseases, reducing their risk of contracting them.

2. Community Protection: Immunisation not only benefits the individual but also helps to create herd immunity within communities. When a significant portion of the population is immunised against a disease, it becomes more difficult for the disease to spread, protecting those who may not be able to receive vaccines due to medical reasons or age.

3. Reduction of Disease Outbreaks: Vaccination programs have been instrumental in reducing the incidence of many infectious diseases. By immunising children, we can prevent disease outbreaks that can potentially cause widespread illness, hospitalisation, and even death.

4. Long-term Health Benefits: Vaccines protect children from acute illnesses and improve their health and well-being. For example, some vaccines can prevent certain types of cancer associated with infections, such as cervical cancer caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV).

5. Cost-effectiveness: Immunisation is a cost-effective public health intervention. The costs associated with treating vaccine-preventable diseases, including medical expenses and productivity losses, far outweigh the costs of immunisation programs.
